05 September 2023. Thanks to the sponsorship of the Ministry of Economy, Knowledge and Employment of the Canary Islands Government, the Women for Africa Foundation launches, for the third consecutive year, an online scholarship program with the aim of offering complementary training opportunities to those African women enrolled in university or who have already completed undergraduate or postgraduate university studies.
Since the launch of Learn Africa Canarias in 2020, 670 women from 44 African countries have been able to enroll in one or more of the online courses attached to the 900 scholarships offered under the program to date.
This year’s call includes a wide variety of courses in different subjects, including specialized short courses, Spanish courses and university training courses designed by the Universities of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and La Laguna (ULL), and their foundations, Fundación Universitaria de Las Palmas (FULP) and Fundación Canaria General de la Universidad de La Laguna (FGULL), respectively, as well as the Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias (ITC).
All of them will be online and are scheduled to take place between October of this year and April 2024. We recommend that before applying students ensure that they have a stable internet connection and a computer to follow the lectures.
This year we have included documents in Spanish, English and French for those who may have difficulties applying. To download them, please visit the specific page and click on How to apply
