COUNTRY/TOWN: Malawi / Lilongwe
LENGTH: 2012 - 2018
This project provided schooling for girls and young ladies, essentially in secondary school studies, in the villages of Chaombwa and Mbambande, the rural area nearest to Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, in order to help them access further education.
The village chiefs took part together with the community in selecting the 75 young ladies per school year to join the programme, thereby involving the beneficiaries’ social environment in supporting their education. This project was carried out in collaboration with the Esteban G. Vigil Foundation and also included upkeep and healthcare for the young ladies, since these women have limited options for progress in their social environment.
