African Women in Spain

LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCE AREA

COUNTRY/TOWN: España / Madrid

LENGTH: 2014 onwards

In progress

The Women For Africa Foundation is aware of the large number of African women residing in Spain (nearly half a million) and their potential to strengthen ties between Spain and Africa. It therefore aims to promote greater and better mutual understanding with these African women living in our country.

In order to achieve this objective, we launched the African Women in Spain project. Through this, we are taking on various activities, the most noteworthy being the meetings held with African women in different locations around the country, which enable us to learn of their needs and concerns firsthand; various training courses intended to bolster African women’s leadership with university education; the two GENERA programmes carried out in collaboration with the University of Malaga, and an annual photography contest to show what everyday life is like for the African women who live in our country.
