CATHERINE SAMBA-PANZA (Central African Republic)


A corporate lawyer and human rights activist, she has led numerous actions in favor of women’s rights within civil society. Woman of mediation, noted for having assumed the presidency in a country suffering from a violent crisis and for her role in conflict resolution (conciliator between Christians and Muslims) and for her “political neutrality”.

An active promoter of gender equality, she advocates for the importance of women’s effective participation in peacemaking, peacebuilding, conflict prevention and mediation processes.

As a female political leader, she is active in advocating for the increased participation of women in political governance.
