Madrid, May 28. In November 2019, the Intermares marine vessel of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Government of Spain landed at the Moroccan city of Nador for more than a month. The aim was to carry out the project Connecting Seas through Knowledge, which offered different fishing and general seafaring trades training to more than 2,000 women of the town and its province.
TVE’s program Agrosfera, directed by Sandra Sutherland, offered to report on the project, which was carried out by Ana Jiménez, a correspondent in Rabat. This report has been awarded the ERN-Med Prize 2020 by the prestigious audiovisual association COPEAM whose aim is to promote dialogue and cultural integration in the Mediterranean region.
This year’s prize had the theme “Changing societies: communicating Mediterranean diversities” and certainly, changing women’s lives for the better through professional training was the main aim of Connecting Seas.
From Women for Africa, we send our gratitude and warmest congratulations to Ana Jiménez, Sandra Sutherland and TVE for this award, which they surely deserve for the impressive coverage of our program.
