MxA presents the ninth edition of Science by Women


Madrid, 6 July 2023 The MxA Foundation presents the ninth edition of Science by Women, also known as Ellas Investigan, a program in which African scientists from all over the continent carry out postdoctoral stays in Spanish research centers and institutes.

As a main novelty, this year Science by Women has the incorporations of the Valdecilla Health Research Institute -IDIVAL of Cantabria and Castilla-La Mancha Health Research Institute- IDISCAM, which join the twenty-four centers already veterans of the program to offer a total of twenty-eight scholarships in the areas of health, biomedicine, food security, water, energy and climate change.

Currently, there are 130 women scientists who have been part of Science by Women and with this new edition, the 150 beneficiaries will be exceeded. An active network of researchers that also forms NOW IS AFRICA (Network of Women Innovating in Science in Africa).

The MxA Foundation thanks the research centers and sponsors for their repeated confidence in the program. For its development, MxA has the financing of public bodies such as the Provincial Council of Biscay, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, the Government of the Canary Islands or the FCSAI Foundation and companies such as ENDESA, in addition to the financing of the centers that make up the program.
