Following the success of the project “Connecting the Seas 1” carried out in 2020, the Femmes pour l’Afrique Association has decided to expand its efforts and carry out a second edition: “Connecting the Seas 2: Sea of Opportunities”.
This project is carried out in partnership with the Chamber and Delegation of Maritime Fisheries of Nador, the Chamber of Maritime Fisheries of the Mediterranean of Tangier and the Maritime Professional Qualification Center of Bni Anssar Nador and Laaraiche. Its aim is to ensure the integration of women from the region in the maritime fishing sector, which has always been monopolized by men, which will contribute to the participation of women in promoting the development of the region of Nador.
This Tuesday, 10 members of the women cooperatives “Al Mostakbal Li Tahalib Al Bahriya” and “Nissmat Albahr Likhiyatat Achibak” met at the headquarters of the Association Femmes pour l’Afrique, Phare Nador, to begin a basic training course under the guidance of the presidents of the two cooperatives. Once they have completed the course, they will undergo a second month of training at the maritime professional training center in Nador, where the 10 women will benefit from advanced courses on network repair, complemented by online courses provided by the Laaraiche professional training center.
When the 10 women from the cooperatives have completed the training, they will pass on their knowledge and skills to 40 young women with university education and experience in the maritime fishing sector who are interested in the profession.
