INSTITUTE OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AT THE UNIVERSITAT AUTÒNOMA DE BARCELONA (ICTA -UAB)

The Institute of Environmental Science and Technology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona is a research center of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona that hosts approximately 120 researchers trained in environmental sciences spanning natural, socio-economic and engineering fields. ICTA-UAB’s mission is to undertake cutting-edge research and training on interactions between humans and Earth systems, to build integrative and applied knowledge for a sustainable future. Our research is structured around 5 societal challenges, focused on oceanic and land-use systems, cities, production and consumption patterns, and transformative policies. We do brave science for a changing world through cutting-edge interdisciplinary research, a commitment to society and equity, and by demanding policy action from decision-makers.

 

Research proposals presented to ICTA-UAB must be related to the following issues:

• The influence of climate change on African small-scale fisheries and coastal fishing communities (address proposal to Patrizia Ziveri, Patrizia.Ziveri@uab.cat).
• The influence of ocean acidification on calcifying ecosystems (address proposal to Patrizia Ziveri, Patrizia.Ziveri@uab.cat).
• How knowledge on climate adaptation travels through and by the African diaspora in Europe (address proposal to Panagiota Kotsila, Panagiota.Kotsila@uab.cat)
• The social impacts of conservation policy (e.g. protected areas, payments for ecosystem services, REDD+) and/or how conservation data can contribute to injustice in conservation governance (address proposal to Dan Brockington & Esteve Corbera, Daniel.Brockington@uab.cat & Esteve.Corbera@uab.cat)

All proposals must obtain validation before submission of the application from the contact person/people from each area mentioned above.
