THE FOUNDATION FOR THE PROMOTION OF HEALTH AND BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH OF THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY (FISABIO)

Period of enjoyment: from January 2025 to November 2026.

 

The Foundation for the Promotion of Health and Biomedical Research of the Valencian Community a non-profit scientific organization, whose primary purpose is to promote, develop and execute research and innovation in the health and biomedical sciences.

Within the FISABIO Foundation, FISABIO-Public Health is a research center that specifically responds to the need to delve deeper into various areas of scientific knowledge in the broad field of public health. FISABIO-Public Health is a unique center in this field since it combines experimental research with research in various areas of epidemiology. This combination allows for the creation of synergies between multiple areas of knowledge, generating multidisciplinary approaches to public health problems.

 

FISABIO-Public Health will offer the successful candidates training and learning of specific skills within its Genomics and Health Area. Genomics and Health investigates microorganisms of interest to human health, with the aim of proposing guidelines for action in relation to pathogens, epidemic outbreaks and diseases related to the alteration of the human microbiome. To this end, it develops and applies new methods of genomic, metagenomic, epidemiological and evolutionary analysis.

In particular, candidates will be able to integrate within one of the following research lines:

• Compositional and functional development of the human microbiome and associations with disease
• Vertical transmission of microorganisms from mother to child
• Influence of diet and prebiotic compounds on the gastrointestinal microbiome
• Determinants of vaginal microbiome composition and associations with gynecological health
