The Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences is a center that offers the following degrees:
The faculty, located on the science campus, has excellent facilities, both classrooms and laboratories and library, which have the best equipment to develop quality teaching, both theoretical and practical. All the departments involved are composed of teachers who are also researchers, many of them of recognized prestige, and have all the necessary infrastructure to accommodate graduate students and to develop research excellence.
The degree in Pharmacy integrates subjects taught in more than 20 areas of knowledge, from those related to basic sciences (physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology) to more specific ones (pharmacology and pharmaceutical technology), including others as varied as anatomy, biochemistry, botany, economics, physiology, microbiology, nutrition, parasitology, public health, toxicology, etc.
The degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics trains professionals qualified to develop activities oriented to food and nutrition of individuals or groups in various physiological and/or pathological situations, according to the principles of protection and promotion of health, disease prevention and dietary-nutritional treatment when necessary, including the deontological and legal principles that allow professional practice with autonomy, awareness of knowledge renewal and ability to collaborate with other professionals in the health field.
The degree in Food Science and Technology trains in the mastery of the various aspects of food production, while training professionals with the necessary scientific and technological knowledge that allows them to study the nature of food, the causes of its deterioration, the fundamental principles of its processing and its improvement for public consumption. This knowledge is directed to the design and selection of the best methods of preservation, processing, packaging, storage, distribution and use, so as to ensure high sensory quality food, safe, nutritious, healthy, adapted to new consumption habits and in accordance with current legislation.
The degree in Gastronomic Sciences aims to train professionals with a good base of scientific, technological, health and business management knowledge, capable of designing projects and managing gastronomic services in the professional fields of haute cuisine, commercial and collective catering and the food industry. In addition, the degree enables students to develop and promote creativity, innovation and research in the world of gastronomy, which has a great economic and social impact, responding to the changes occurring in the field of food, in the perception of cuisine and in new forms of consumption.
Research proposals presented to FFCA-UV should be related to the following research group area:
The research activity of the ParaSalut group is fundamentally basic, covering different aspects of the parasites-health relationship, both in humans and in animal reservoirs of parasitic diseases or models of them. The group has lines of work in parasitic diseases produced by Protozoa, Helminths and Arthropods. All the lines are already in progress and have numerous publications, as reflected in the CCVV of the members of the group that can be consulted in the web.
Publications M. Trelis – orcid.org/0000-0002-5977-3337.
The research line open to the call is “Studies on the relationship between parasites and nutritional status, at maternal and child level and at school level (physical and cognitive development)”.
