Centre for Genomic Regulation is an international biomedical research institute of excellence whose mission is to discover and advance knowledge for the benefit of society, public health and economic prosperity. The CRG believes that the medicine of the future depends on the groundbreaking science of today. This requires an interdisciplinary scientific team focused on understanding the complexity of life from the genome to the cell to a whole organism and its interaction with the environment, offering an integrated view of genetic diseases.
The CRG is seeking diverse profiles in genomics, particularly bioinformaticians and computational scientists with expertise in AI applications. In addition, there are opportunities within the Cell Biology program for researchers focusing on topics such as cytoskeleton dynamics, nuclear processes, and epigenetics. This makes CRG an ideal host for fellows looking to contribute to capacity-building and networking in Africa.
Many CRG research groups conduct fundamental research, which can sometimes present challenges in identifying suitable candidates. For example, the CRG’s Dias-Frazer Lab (https://www.crg.eu/en/programmes-groups/dias-frazer-lab) and Al-Jord Lab (https://www.crg.eu/en/programmes-groups/al-jord-lab) are particularly interested in hosting fellows. These groups focus on pioneering research that aligns with both global health challenges and the CRG’s mission to advance biomedical knowledge.
In general, research proposals presented to CRG should be related to the following research areas:
