UAX. PhD programme in Regenerative Biology and New Therapies

Cerrada/Closed

UAX – Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio

Vacancy: 1 PhD Scholarship

UAX. PhD programme in Regenerative Biology and New Therapies.

Modality: Face-to-face.
Duration: 4 years (25-26, 26-27, 27-28 and 28-29).
Start date-end of stay: Por decisión de UAX, el inicio de la beca se retrasa a enero de 2026. Sep 2025–Jul 2026 (tentative dates, academic calendar to be published).
Teaching language: English.
Academic requirements: Holding a degree obtained under a foreign education system, without the need for official recognition, provided that the university verifies that the degree certifies a level of training equivalent to that of an official Spanish Master’s degree and qualifies the holder for doctoral studies in the country where it was issued. This admission does not imply official recognition of the applicant’s prior degree nor its validation for purposes other than access to doctoral studies.

The programme aimed at graduates in Biomedical or experimental sciences, including graduates in:

  • Medicine,
  • Biology,
  • Biochemistry,
  • Biotechnology,
  • Veterinary Medicine or
  • Pharmacy.

Further academic requirements:Students who cannot directly access the Doctoral Program due to not holding a degree corresponding to Level 3 of the Spanish Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (MECES 3) must have completed a Master’s program of at least 60 credits, of which at least 9 must be related to the initial training of a researcher in the field of Biomedical Sciences.

Given the great variability in the possible educational pathways of graduates from these degrees (both in our country and abroad), the admission process will assess each application individually. This evaluation will determine whether they have acquired the minimum necessary competencies in research methodology within the field of Biomedical Sciences and possess a sufficiently deep understanding of Cell Biology.

Based on each candidate’s prior education, it will be determined whether they have received adequate training in research methodology in Biomedical Sciences or possess an in-depth knowledge of Cell Biology (at the Master’s level, MECES-3). If not, the required training supplements will be established to ensure they can successfully undertake the Doctoral Program.
The admission process will conclude by assessing whether the candidate’s previous education has provided the necessary competencies to successfully complete the Doctoral Program. If not, it will be determined whether the gaps in their training can be addressed by completing the required training supplements listed below or if their prior education is clearly insufficient for admission to this Doctoral Program.

The required additional training for candidates whose previous education does not allow for direct and automatic admission to this Doctoral Program will consist of completing the course Research Methodology in Experimental Sciences (6 ECTS) and/or the course Advanced Cell Biology (4 ECTS). Each applicant will be informed, in response to their admission request, whether they need to complete both courses or just one of them. Their final admission to the Doctoral Program in Regenerative Biology and New Therapies will be conditional upon the successful completion of these courses

Language Required: B2 level of English. A2 level of Spanish is recommended.

Research Areas: This programme is presented with two lines of research:

  • Line 1: Research in Regenerative Biology and Intracellular Signalling
  • Line 2: Research in New Therapies and Cell Regulation
