18 June 2026 — The Valdecilla Research Institute (IDIVAL) and the Mujeres por África Foundation held a meeting aimed at strengthening and reactivating their collaboration within the framework of the Science by Women programme. The meeting was attended by Galo Peralta, Director of IDIVAL; Juan Algar, General Director of Mujeres por África; and Beatriz Santacruz, Project Coordinator at the Foundation.
The meeting builds on the partnership established between both institutions thanks to the support of Mujeres por África and the CSAI Foundation, which enabled IDIVAL to host Nigerian scientist Aminah Abolore Sulayman during the programme’s 9th edition. Sulayman is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). During her fellowship, she joined Emilio Rodrigo’s research group, where she conducted research on integrated biofeedback control applied to haemodialysis systems.
Aminah Sulayman is a chemical engineer specialising in simulation software, with extensive experience in the development of models and control systems for industrial and biomedical processes. Among her most notable achievements is the development of a portable laboratory-scale haemodialysis system, which received recognition at the LAUTECH International Research and Innovation Exhibition (LIRIDE 2022).
The meeting also provided an opportunity for representatives of both organisations to meet in person and explore new synergies, with the aim of continuing and expanding their collaboration in promoting a more diverse and inclusive scientific community.
